Book Description
Seventeen cutting-edge chapters review both basic research and clinical applications of chromosomal markers of cancer. The new markers offer great promise, not only for their clinical utility in diagnosis, prognosis, and disease monitoring, but also for their contributions to a better understanding of the mechanisms of tumor development and progression. The chapters-all written by leading authorities-skillfully reveal fresh insights into the translational role of cytogenetics in identifying the cellular and molecular changes that occur in cancer. Coverage is devoted to many tissue systems-colon, breast, prostate, lung, skin, brain, and kidney-where the diagnostic and prognostic utility of chromosome markers is clearly demonstrated. A seminal book certain to become the front-line reference and authoritative resource needed by all scientists and clinicians engaged in cancer research, diagnosis, and management.

Book Description
Researchers involved in the cytogenetics and molecular genetics of human tumors will welcome this comprehensive overview of the type of aberrations that chromosome 12 presents in human solid tumors. The authors study the implications for a cytogenetic subtyping of the tumors involved and strategies for identifying the molecular changes which underlie the karyotypic alterations. The aberrations of chromosome 12 which the book deals with are very frequent chromosomal alterations in human tumors occuring in frequent benign mesenchymal tumors, such as uterine leiomyomas and lipomas, and in tumors of epithelial origin, such as pleomorphic adenomas of the salivary glands.

Book Description
This publication combines and extends the now classic system of human cytogenetic nomenclature that has been prepared by expert committees and published in, or in collaboration with, Cytogenetics and Cell Genetics since 1963. The current ISCN committee and its advisors finalized the report at a meeting in Memphis, Tennessee in October 1994. It updates, corrects and combines all previous human cytogenetic nomenclature recommendations into one systematically organized publication. ISCN 1995 includes, supersedes, and reorganizes the previous compilation in ISCN 1985 and its supplement, ISCN 1991, the Guidelines for Cancer Cytogenetics. Also, some minor inconsistencies of the previous compilations are corrected and clarified.

Book Description
This publication combines and extends the now classic system of human cytogenetic nomenclature prepared by expert committees and published in collaboration with Cytogenetic and Genome Research (formerly: Cytogenetics and Cell Genetics ) since 1963. Revised and finalized by the ISCN Committee and its advisors at a meeting in Vancouver, BC, in December 2004, it updates, corrects and incorporates all previous human cytogenetic nomenclature recommendations into one systematically organized publication. It thus supersedes the previous compilations in ISCN 1985 and its supplement, ISCN 1991 , the Guidelines for Cancer Cytogenetics , and ISCN 1995 . What s new in ISCN 2005? the G- and R-banded karyotypes have been replaced by new ones reflecting higher band-level resolutions new ideograms at the 300-band and 700-band level have been added the in situ hybridization nomenclature has been modernized, simplified, and expanded new examples reflecting unique situations are included a basic nomenclature for recording array comparative genomic hybridization results is introduced ISCN 2005 also contains a detachable fold-out of the normal human karyotype, consisting of photographs of G-banded and R-banded chromosomes at the commonly examined 550-band resolution stage and their diagrammatic representations a useful aid for human cytogeneticists, technicians, and students.

Book Description
Reviews recent and emerging clinical laboratory tests that can help in the early detection, evaluation, and prediction of human tumors. Emphasizing the importance of molecular and genetic RNA/DNA tets that detect persons at high risk for specific cancers, the authors explore these novel serological assays, cellular assays useful for anatomic pathology, and molecular and genetic assays.

Book Description
This book describes all human leukemia-lymphoma cell lines that have been established and that grow continuously under standardised in vitro conditions. These lines are derived from cells belonging to all the major hematopoietic cell lineages, i.e. B- and T-lymphocytes, natural killer cells, granulocytic cells and megakaryocytic cells. The clinical data, the culture conditions and the major phenotypic features of the cell lines are described with citations. This book is the first book describing human leukemia-lymphoma cell lines and will be of interest to scientists involved in the areas of hematology, oncology, immunology, molecular biology and cytogenetics. Cancer Cell Lines, Volumes 1-3: These 3 volumes provide a comprehensive text on the culture of established cell lines from every type of human cancer. The volumes provide a basic manual and reference resource for every cancer research scientist using human cancer cells.
