Book Description
Everyone hates coming down with a cold or, worse yet, the flu. With symptoms such as a sore throat, stuffy nose, fever, and body aches, these diseases are uncomfortable even at their mildest. But what if we were able to take control of our health using safe and effective traditional cures that have the potential to eliminate—or at least shorten—the course of seasonal illnesses? In his guidebook You Got Sick—Now What?, licensed acupuncturist and oriental medicine specialist Tom Ingegno introduces basic tools from traditional Asian healing modalities that will help alleviate the severity and shorten the duration of annoying cold and flu symptoms. Tom shares a variety of holistic techniques that encourage healing the natural way. While encouraging heat therapy, the intake of a variety of medicinal soups, breathing exercises, massages with a Unique tool, and acupuncture, Tom presents home remedies that have been used safely—and often in conjunction with modern medicine—for thousands of years. You Got Sick—Now What? provides alternative ways to heal from a cold or flu, allowing anyone to throw off those covers, get back on their feet quickly, and begin living life fully once again!

Book Description
Why can salamanders grow new legs, and young children grow new finger tips, but adult humans can't regenerate? What is the electricity that flows through the human body? Is it the same thing that the Chinese call Qi? If so, what does Chinese medicine know, that western medicine ignores? Dan Keown's highly accessible, witty, and original book shows how western medicine validates the theories of Chinese medicine, and how Chinese medicine explains the mysteries of the body that western medicine largely ignores. He explains the generative force of embryology, how the hearts of two people in love (or in scientific terms `quantum entanglement') truly beat as one, how a cheating heart is also an ill heart (which is why men are twice as likely to die of a sudden heart attack with their mistress than with their wife), how neural crest cells determine our lifespan, and why Proust's madeleines evoked the memories they did. The book shows how the theories of western and Chinese medicine support each other, and how the integrated theory enlarges our understanding of how bodies work on every level. Full of good stories and surprising details, Dan Keown's book is essential reading for anyone who has ever wanted to know how the body really works.

Book Description
This is the first complete English translation of Japanese acupuncture book, Shinkyu Gokuhi Sho with all the beautiful illustrations from the original text and Hyungsuk Choi's annotations. Shinkyu Gokuhi Sho was published in 1778 by a Japanese doctor, Kimura Taichu (木邨太仲). The author says that the acupuncture technique in this book is originated from Kim Duk-bang (金德邦). This technique had been passed down to the family of Tanaka Tomoyoshi (田中知新) secretly, and the author collected and edited the resources and published as a book. The techniques in the book became a foundation of Unkaishiryu, so this book has both historical and clinical value for acupuncture researches and practitioners.Regarding the title of this book, it was introduced to Europe in 1825 by Jean Baptiste Sarlandière under the French title, 'Traité inédit de l'acupuncture et du Moxa chez les Japonais' , which means 'The unpublished teaching of Japanese acupuncture and moxibustion' in English. Japanese 'Shinkyu Gokuhi Sho' literally means 'The ultimate secret book of acupuncture and moxibustion'. In English, it was introduced as 'Absolute secrets of Acupuncture and moxibustion' in NAJOM (2001, vol 8, No.21) and also as 'Outline of the Deepest Secrets of Acupuncture and moxibustion' by Wolfgang Michel in his article,' Japanese Acupuncture and Moxibustion in Europe from the 16th to 18th Centuries'.

Book Description
Acupuncture is a difficult art to both practice and master. This practice incorporates thousands of years of knowledge and is thus a little convoluted and filled with strange philosophies. Jabbing hundreds of needles into someone in a generally short time span is no mean feat either. Acupuncture: The Ancient Chinese Secret eliminates much of the theory underlying acupuncture into its practical core. While doubtless this knowledge is absolutely necessary, it is not the most important aspect of acupuncture and can be quite confusing for beginners who simply desire to know what acupuncture is to comprehends. This introductory text covers the basic aspects of acupuncture quickly, covering the concepts of "cun" and channel theory, before extensively delving into acupoints and their myriad aspects. The book then progresses to include more than a hundred extra acupoints, diverging from the canonical forty points, so to include a broader choice of acupoints available to the practitioner. It then covers the methods of point selection, one of the most vital fundamentals of acupuncture. The methods are well-presented in a formulaic fashion rather than a wide range of choices, something not done in other books. The final few chapters include cupping and moxibustion, important supplementary tactics that can be used in addition to acupuncture to increase their mutual efficacy. Acupuncture: The Ancient Chinese Text is perhaps one of the few existing introductory texts on acupuncture that is presented in an organized fashion that almost anyone can understand, though it is not a stand-alone text. This book should definitely be supplemented by other books as soon as the reader's knowledge can grasp the basic foundations of acupuncture. Learning acupuncture is not an easy task. May Acupuncture: The Ancient Chinese Text help readers interested in Eastern medicine help them on the path to understanding and learning this interesting practice that's survived for thousands of years.
